Battle Family Philanthropy

The Battle Family is passionate about the power of education, and the need to improve access to education for students from limited economic backgrounds.

Having spent much of his formative years living in a rural tuberculosis sanitarium, Skip Battle was the only student from his graduating class to attend a four-year college. After receiving his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth, Skip then attended Stanford Business School where he received his MBA.

Grateful for their own educational opportunities, the Battles have been supporting scholarships for first-generation college students since 2007. With a focus on contributing to the communities from which they have lived, Battle Family Vineyards now helps to fund scholarships through the Berkeley Community Fund and launched a similar program at the Foster-Glocester Regional School District in Rhode Island, where Skip was raised.
